Before I purchased this stainless machine, I used either a french press or my Krups coffee maker. Both of these were solid devices but I was tired of the extra grinder. I do love this coffee maker with a grinder. Mostly because it grinds whole beans right before brewing to produce fresh and flavorful coffee! I like the fact that it is 24-hour fully programmable and put pre-ground beans in the filter. We frequently buy beans then add decaff preground beans to the filter basket.
